Warren Cucurullo, beautiful
Italian that he is, has played the guitar since he was little. And he plays
it like he was making sweet love to it. He has
several musical influences, the most prevalent being Frank Zappa. He played
in Zappa's "Joe's Garage" project before joining "Missing Persons" in the
late 70's. Warren quit "Missing Persons" in the mid 80's and joined with
Duran Duran as a session guitarist (coincidently as Andy Taylor was embarking
on his sorta-soon-to-be-ill-fated solo career).
Warren became a full-fledged
Duranie in 1989, and soon his musical influence manifested itself in the
band, and they flourished with their second comeback (after the "Liberty"
album). He originally is a New Yorker, but has an apartment in London where
he resides and works with Duran Duran.
Warren is also working
on a number of side projects currently. He has two solo instrumental CD's
out currently, called "Thanks To Frank" (a tribute to Frank Zappa; released
in 1996) and "Machine Language" (released May 26, 1997). He's also
working on a rock opera (with Nick Rhodes as TV Mania), entitled "Bored
With Prozac and the Internet." No word on when it will be released.
Warren left Duran Duran in 2001. He's currently working
on his own solo stuff and a reunion with the 80's band, Missing Persons.
